MILTON — A detention deputy was arrested and charged Wednesday after Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s investigators reviewed an incident from April 21.
Ovando Vincente Blankenship was charged with cruelty toward a child and falsifying official documents, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. Both crimes are felonies and bond was set at $15,000.
According to the press release, Blankenship used “inordinate force” to put a juvenile suspect into a cell. He also falsified his report of the incident, the release said. Video obtained of the incident varied from his official report.
Blankenship was arrested in Santa Rosa County but will be held in Walton County.
