BLUE MOUNTAIN BEACH — Got some spare change?

Does that spare change add up to, say, $13 million?

If so, you might want to call Hannah Martin and Jimbo Holloway with Premiere Property Group and Martha Stroop with Beach Escapes Realty. Together they have listed the single most expensive home in Okaloosa or Walton counties.

Called “Casa Amore” and located in a private gated community in Blue Mountain Beach, the 12,000-square-foot house has been on the market for just over a year, but at a cool $13 million was just recently crowned the most expensive real estate in the local market.  In February, a Rosemary Beach home sold for a record $12.5 million.

The house is owned by Pam and Bill Burden, who live there full time with their family. Bill Burden is a world-renowned plastic surgeon in Destin.

“Casa Amore is one of the most architecturally unique homes I have ever stepped foot in,” said Hannah Martin, the home’s listing agent. “(The Burdens) are very passionate people.”

Originally built in 2004, with 6,000 square feet added several years later, the house comes by its love-inspired name honestly. From the front door to the wooden beams on the ceilings, “Xs” and “Os” representing kisses and hugs are incorporated in various design and architectural elements throughout the home.

The home is certainly big enough for a large family, with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and five half-bathrooms. It features an elevated spa, a pool with a swim-up bar surrounded by custom Italian tile and a translucent bridge leading up to the grand entryway.

It also has sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico and 90 feet of private beach. To get to the beach, the homeowners built a custom handicap ramp that zig zags over the dunes.

The dunes themselves are “hurricane-proof,” propped up by geotube technology that protects them from weather erosion.

Aside from the practical elements of the home, a variety of amenities come along with the hefty price tag as well.

“The interesting thing about this home is that it’s very amenity and lifestyle engaging,” Martin said.

A “summer kitchen” also is included with the home. Located right next to the pool, the full-grade commercial kitchen is complete with 4 standard burners, a 48-inch grill, a deep fryer and large burner. The home also has an event room complete with a stage, a wine room, and a half-size basketball court with 28-foot ceilings and a custom sound system.

“It’s a beautiful home,” Martin said. “It’s really just incredible.”
