DESTIN — About 2,500 gallons of treated wastewater flowed out of a water main line that broke around 12:30 p.m. Sunday near 930 Gulf Shore Drive, just south of U.S. Highway 98.
The incident was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Monday to the state Department of Environmental Protection, which determined that no cleanup actions were required. A crew began repairing the line Monday morning and was expected to be finished later in the day, according to Lockwood Wernet, general manager of Destin Water Users.
Wernet said the line delivers treated wastewater that is used for irrigation purposes on Holiday Isle.
