Weird state news: Lakeland still looking for “Aspyre” which is valued at $25,000.

LAKELAND — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is looking for one of Lakeland’s iconic swan statues, stolen by a naked man in a stolen pickup.
“Aspyre” was stolen from the back of Lakeland Cold Storage, 4100 Frontage Road S., during the evening hours of Friday and Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The large swan is hard to hide, and the guy was also hard to miss. The Sheriff’s Office released a video of the theft.
The video shows a naked man walking around Lakeland Cold Storage, carrying around a 5-gallon bucket, trying to open locked doors.
About five minutes after the man is seen in the video, the company’s 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch truck is seen driving away — with the swan statue, valued at $25,000, in the back.
The pickup was later recovered in Hillsborough County, but the swan was not.
Also found in Hillsborough was the suspect, who is now in that county’s jail: Ronald Thompson, 47. He is charged with both the theft of the pickup and the swan.
The Sheriff’s Office is still looking for the swan.
If you have seen the swan, call 863-298-6200 or 863-577-1600 and ask for Detective Asbury.
By the way, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office did not know how Thompson was dressed when he was taken into custody in Hillsborough County.
