Early Sunday morning crash claims life of Chipley man.
The Florida Highway Patrol has reported the third Memorial Day Weekend fatality in Northwest Florida.
According to a FHP news release, Travis Taylor Ham, 28, of Chipley, was traveling south on State Road 77 in Washington County when he lost control of his 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe at 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
Exiting a sweeping, downhill lefthand curve south of Mobile Swamp Road, the Tahoe traveled onto the grass shoulder of the roadway, rotating clockwise into a wood line. When the Tahoe entered the wood line, it struck an oak tree with its left side and Ham was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP noted that alcohol was not related to the fatal crash.
