DESTIN — Allegiant launched a new route Friday from Newark, New Jersey to Destin-Fort Walton Beach, just in time for the summer travel season. The company is offering one-way fares on the new route for as low as $70.

“We look forward to bringing more visitors and economic growth to Destin, as well as connecting Destin travelers to the city that never sleeps,” said Lukas Johnson, Allegiant senior vice president of commercial.

The new seasonal route will operate twice weekly between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS). This route will bring in an additional 8,000 visitors, contributing to the local economy, according to a press release from the airlines.

With this new route, Allegiant will now serve 17 cities to Destin / Fort Walton Beach. Flight days, times and the lowest fares can be found only at Allegiant.com.

Allegiant offers low base fares and savings on rental cars, hotels and activity and attraction tickets, the release said. Travelers can book their entire vacation with Allegiant.

The introductory one-way fares come with restrictions. Seats are limited. Price includes taxes and fees. Fares are one way and not available on all flights. Flights must be purchased by June 5, 2017 for travel between June 2, 2017 and October 30, 2017. See Allegiant.com for details.
