WASHINGTON COUNTY — A Northwest Florida motorcyclist riding in the wrong lane of travel was killed following a violent head-on crash early Sunday morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, Ronald Dean Eubanks, 57, of Vernon, was traveling south on a 2007 Harley-Davidson in the northbound lanes of State Road 79 at the time of the fatal 1:40 a.m. crash.
Traveling in the opposite direction, approximately one-half mile north of Environmental Road, was a 2002 Dodge Neon driven by 23-year-old Leon Tranard Howard of Caryville.
Eubanks impacted the vehicle head-on and was ejected from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.
Eubanks was pronounced dead at the scene. FHP noted that results of an alcohol test are pending.
Howard was not injured in the second fatal crash recorded by state officials in Washington County this year.
