Relaxing on the beach is something locals and visitors enjoy doing during the summer.
And sometimes they get so relaxed or busy enjoying the outdoors that they don’t want to cook or fight the crowds to go out to eat.
So, until now, the only choice was pizza delivery.
But options have broadened with the opening of 30A Salted, a food delivery company that will pick up your order from several local restaurants and deliver it to your door or your seat on the beach. Problem solved.
Menus for eight 30A restaurants are currently posted on the 30A Salted website, including Bud & Alley’s, The Taco Bar, the Pizza Bar & Trattoria, Pizza By The Sea, La Crema Tapas, George’s at Alys Beach, Barefoot BBQ, and Raw & Juicy, along with each one’s hours of operation.
Deliveries are made to Grayton, WaterColor, Seaside, Seagrove, Alys and Rosemary Beach via electric bikes between 60 and 90 minutes after orders are placed.
The 30A Salted website currently has the delivery fee as being $15, but owner Howard Mullen said the fee will vary by season.
“I vacationed here for 30 years and this is the one thing I always noticed that was missing,” said Mullen.
Mullen moved here from Atlanta last year, where he owned a massage therapy business. He plans to offer massages at homes and meal and massage packages at homes.
Mullen has also applied for a permit to give massages on the beach under a tent.
“Those will need to be paid for in advance,” he said.
Walton County Tourist Development Director of Beach Operations Brian Kellenberger agreed.
“Beach Code Enforcement advised Mr. Mullen that if he books massage sessions and takes payments via online or phone prior to meeting a client on the public beach, then it meets the code requirements for delivery vendor. Currently, we are waiting for Mr. Mullen to submit a current Florida State Health Department certificate for massage therapy prior to issuing a delivery vendor permit,” said Kellenberger.
