The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, and comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and also features a new dual-camera system at the rear. We’ve compared the OnePlus 5 with some other flagship smartphones available at similar prices, such as the LG G6, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S8, and here’s how they all lineup.

Price and Availability: As has always been the case, OnePlus remains an online-exclusive brand, and has maintained its association with Amazon in India. Prices starting from Rs 32,999, the OnePlus 5 can only be purchased on Amazon India. The LG G6 is officially priced at Rs 51,990, but can be found at around Rs 40,000 today both online and through traditional retail channels. The Google Pixel and Samsung are also available both online and offline, priced at around Rs 42,000 for the Pixel and Rs 57,900 for the Galaxy S8. ALSO READ: LG G6 Reviewlg g6 lead

Screen: The OnePlus 5 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED screen, just like the ones on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The Google Pixel also comes with a full HD AMOLED screen, although it’s a bit smaller at 5 inches. The LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 both feature larger and higher-resolution screens, apart from moving away from the typical 16:9 screen ratio. The LG G6 has a 5.7-inch QHD+ IPS LCD screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio, while the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

Chipset, RAM and Storage: The OnePlus 5 is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which is the flagship SoC from the American chipset maker. There’s also up to 8GB of RAM, which is unmatched by any other phone in India today, while even the lower variant has a significant 6GB of RAM available. Internal storage is either 64GB or 128GB, with no option for storage expansion.samsung galaxy s8 review lead

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the only device which has a current-generation SoC, with the Exynos 8895 SoC, which is considered on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. The LG G6 and Google Pixel are both powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, which is now previous-generation. Apart from the OnePlus 5 which comes with a minimum of 6GB of RAM, the other phones all feature 4GB of RAM. While the Google Pixel is available with a 128 storage variant, the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 are only available in 64GB variants.

Camera: The OnePlus 5 features a dual-camera setup at the rear, with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and 20-megapixel secondary telephoto sensor. The difference in aperture in the two sensors allows for a depth-of-field portrait image effect, while the secondary sensor allows for lossless zoom up to 2X.

The LG G6 is the only other phone on the list to feature a dual-camera setup, with two 13-megapixel sensors that allow wide-angle photography. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel both have single-sensor 12-megapixel cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S8 has the most highly-rated camera of the lot, and you can read more about it in our detailed review.

Battery, OS and Connectivity: With a 3,300mAh battery, the OnePlus 5 comes with the largest battery of the phones in comparison here. Coupled with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, energy levels are efficient and good enough to last through the day. The Google Pixel has a 2,770mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 3,000mAh battery and the LG G6 also features a 3,300mAh battery.google-pixel-review-bgr-9

All of the phones on the list run on Android Nougat, although the Google Pixel has the distinct advantage of being assured an early update to Android O when it is released. The OnePlus 5 has Oxygen OS on top, while Samsung and LG use their custom UIs on their devices. The Google Pixel features the stock Android launcher.

All of the phones are 4G-compatible with support for VoLTE, and apart from the Pixel, the phones feature dual-SIM connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and OnePlus 5 have the distinct advantage of Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility as well.

Misc: While all the phones in this comparison come with a fingerprint sensor for an extra layer of protection, Samsung takes things a level up. The Galaxy S8 comes with an iris scanner, wherein the phone will scan your eye to unlock the device. Another distinct advantage the Galaxy S8 has over the phones in this comparison is durability. With IP68 certification, Samsung’s smartphone is resistant to water and dust. The Google Pixel too is resistant to water and dust, but to a far lower level.
