Operation Shady Lane ringleader on Wanted list


Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance for information that leads to the arrest of Aaron Dawson. The reward for a tip that helps in his capture is up to $3,000.

The alleged ringleader of the Operation Shady Lane heroin trafficking sting conducted in Okaloosa County has landed on the Wanted list for Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers.

Announced Tuesday, a reward of up to $3,000 is posted for information that leads to the arrest of Aaron Dwayne Dawson, 23, of Fort Walton Beach.

The undercover heroin trafficking sting was announced June 2 by Okaloosa County Sheriff Larry Ashley. At the time, a total of 36 suspects were identified, with Dawson named the head of the operation.

He is currently wanted on a felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony and violation of probation on the original charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest without violence.

Dawson was released from state prison on Jan. 22, 2014, following a two-year sentence for offenses that included the sale/manufacture/delivery of cocaine, cocaine possession, possession of other controlled substances and use of a two-way device to commit a felony.

Of the 36 original suspects, joining Dawson as being sought by law enforcement from the sting operation are Austin Jaye Crunk, 21, Fort Walton Beach; Darby Kate Schwien, 20, hometown not available; Matthew Scott Rubin, 21, hometown not available. All were identified as customers.
