OKALOOSA COUNTY — A semi-truck trailer caught fire early Tuesday morning on Interstate 10 near Mile Marker 51.

A 42-year-old man from Mobile, Alabama, was driving east on Interstate 10 in a Freightliner semi when he saw smoke and flames coming from the rear of the vehicle’s trailer in tow, according to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver came to a stop on the south shoulder of the road and unhooked the semi truck from the trailer to prevent the vehicle from being damaged, the release said.

Firefighters were notified and were able to extinguished the fire.
