Train car derails, ignites small fire in Crestview

CRESTVIEW — Traffic was delayed for hours last night when a single box car on a train jumped the tracks at the intersection of Main Street.

The car derailed at 6:09 p.m. when a piece of metal from the wheel broke off and set a small piece of railroad tie on fire, according to the Crestview Fire Department.

Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire. The train was repaired by 12:32 a.m. Wednesday, the Fire Department reported.
