FORT WALTON BEACH — A fire destroyed a vacant home on Creel Street early Monday morning.

According to Scott Funchess, deputy fire chief with Ocean City-Wright Fire Department, the 911 call came in at approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday. Gulf Power employees had gone to the home at 1015 Creel St. to turn off power and noticed the fire.

No one was living in the home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the state fire marshall’s office.

Funchess estimated the home was a total loss at around $105,000 in damage.

The Fort Walton Beach Fire Department and Mary Esther Fire Department assisted Ocean City-Wright in extinguishing the flames, which took about 45 minutes to completely knock out.
