UPDATE: FHP: Texas man shot ex-girlfriend, her daughter, then himself at Milton rest stop

UPDATE 7:37 A.M.: A Texas man is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend and daughter, before turning the gun on himself, as they rested in their car at a Milton rest stop late Monday night.

According to a release from the Florida Highway patrol, authorities responded to a report of shots fired with multiple victims at the Interstate 10 rest area at mile marker 30 at around 11:30 Monday night.

FHP investigators said that the suspect, a 46-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, arrived at the rest stop while his ex-girlfriend and her daughter were resting in their car.

Authorities said he then shot his ex-girlfriend, a 35-year-old woman, killing her, and shot her daughter twice. After shooting the victims, the man shot himself in the head.

The ex-girlfriend and suspect were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are not being released pending next-of-kin notification.

The daughter, 18-year-old Destiny Salia Snider, of Dallas, Texas, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital with serious injuries. FHP spokesman J.D. Johnson said Tuesday morning she is in stable condition.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two people are dead and a third person is injured following a murder-suicide at a Milton rest stop late Monday night.

According to Sgt. J.D. Johnson with the Florida Highway Patrol, a husband and wife from Texas were found dead at the I-10 rest stop at around 11:30 p.m. Monday. Johnson said they had been involved in a domestic dispute earlier in the evening.

A third person, the woman’s daughter, was injured during the incident, Johnson said. She was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.


Johnson could not immediately release more details about the incident.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, pending next-of-kin notification.

FHP is investigating the case, Johnson said. The rest stop was back open as of 6:20 a.m. Tuesday.
