OKALOOSA ISLAND — Individuals in search of a taste of the Gulf with views of the bay gained a new eatery this weekend to add to their restaurant list — Dock on the Island.
Housed in the former Fudpucker’s on the Island building, Dock on the Island is a restaurant featuring a menu under three main categories: barbecue, shrimp and tacos.
The restaurant is just one business in the complex that is now called Island Time. The center is also home to new and existing businesses that include Fat Daddy’s Arcade, Escape Zone 60, Maximum Magic Dinner Theater, a beach retail shop and a marina offering rentals and other attractions.
Lee Pardue, Dock on the Island’s director of operations, said the new eatery caters to both tourists and locals alike.
“Dock on the Island will have more of a quick-service feel,” Pardue said. “I hope it’s a place where customers can come in with their families, grab a drink and have a nice lunch or dinner.”
Pardue said Dock on the Island’s most popular menu items so far are its $12.99 Nacho Island, a triple meat and cheese nacho platter topped with lettuce, salsa and avocado lime sauce, and the $14.99 blackened fish tacos.
By Friday, the restaurant hopes to have its takeout deli open and selling American-style food such as chicken tenders, cheeseburgers and sandwiches. Customers ordering at the deli or just grabbing a drink at the bar can enjoy waterfront sandbar seating.
Pardue said boaters on Choctawhatchee Bay are also welcome to enjoy the restaurant by taking advantage of public docking at the marina.
In addition to Dock on the Island, restaurant owner Danny Bilger said he will also open Island Time Pizza in the same complex by June 10.
“The pizzeria will be a buffet with take-out as well,” Pardue said. “There are a lot of great and exciting things happening here. We have a great bar, a great view, and people will hopefully have a great time.”
The restaurant, located at 1318 Miracle Strip Parkway S.E., will be open from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week. For more information visit islandtimefl.com.
