Woman with medical emergency seriously injured in head-on crash


Woman lost consciousness and crossed the center line creating the head-on crash.

A Northwest Florida woman experiencing a medical emergency was seriously injured in a head-on crash Friday night.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, 43-year-old Jena Milani of Panama City was traveling north on County Road 2301 in Bay County at 6 p.m. when she lost consciousness due to a medical emergency.

At that point, the 2005 Chevrolet 300 Milani was driving crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a 2003 GMC Yukon driven by Samantha Soto Hernandez, 20, of Youngstown.

The Yukon came to a final rest facing east on the roadway while the Chevrolet 300 came to a final rest in a ditch on the east shoulder of CR 2301.

Milani was transported to Bay Medical Center in Panama City where she remained listed in serious condition Saturday morning.

Hernandez had just minor injuries from the collision while a passenger in her car, 20-year-old Juan Gonzalez of Houston, Texas, was not injured. A passenger in Milani’s vehicle, 37-year-old Brandi Harrell of Panama City Beach, was treated for minor injuries.

FHP noted alcohol was not related to the crash and charges were pending.
